DANCE

As a dancer, I've explored multiple genres of dance, starting with ballet at the age of three. Since then, I've enjoyed four years of ballet training, six years of tap, and eleven years of hip hop, jazz, lyrical, contemporary and musical theatre. Throughout my dance journey, I've encountered some of the most talented teachers, dancers, fellow dance students and team members, all of which I have learned valuable lessons and skills from. I am so grateful for all the opportunities and countless memories!

I started training with Dance Arts Singapore at a very young age, learning tap for six years. During this time I performed in three annual recitals at the Singapore Kallang Theatre and Singapore Global & Cultural Center.

2008 - 2015

Singapore American School

Trained under Heather Rodocker

& Tracy Van der Linden, Lionel Araya & Yenny Widjaja

The Singapore American School's amazing dance program allowed me to further pursue my passion for dance, starting in the sixth grade and continuing until I graduated high school in May 2015. In total, I performed in 14 dance showcases (one per semester), and was usually in 5-10 numbers per show. Aside from the after school dance club, I also took dance classes as part of my physical education curriculum every year until graduation.

Whittier College Dance Team
Student-run college organization

Since September 2015, I was an active member of the Whittier College Dance Team until my graduation in May 2019. This team welcomed and embraced dancers of all levels and backgrounds, making for an incredibly diverse and talented group of people, emphasizing the importance of technique and learning new skills. With multiple on-campus performances and an annual showcase, everyone was given the chance to create and choreograph their own pieces. Under the leadership of amazing team captains (and after getting to be one myself), I can definitely say that my experience with this team has shaped me into the performer and dancer I am today.
